FAQs

What is therapy?

There are many forms of therapy. Talk therapy, specifically, is a process between a trained mental health provider and individual. The provider and client discuss the client's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to form a treatment plan and strive to achieve treatment goals using evidence-based approaches.

What is a LCSW?

A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is a licensed mental health provider who can diagnose mental health disorders and create treatment plans for individuals or groups. In the state of Georgia, one must obtain a degree from a CSWE accredited program, accrue the minimum required hours of supervised clinical experience and supervision, pass the ASWB clinical exam, and lastly apply for licensure with the Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists.

What do services look like?

Depending on your goals, one's time in therapy can be brief or last up to a year(s). Session occurrence typically starts out weekly, but as progress develops, appointments can range from weekly, biweekly, monthly, or even every few months. Once treatment goals are met, we will discuss how to maintain your progress and no longer continue sessions. Additional information about informed consent and your right to terminate services at anytime are provided in intake paperwork.

How do I become a client?

First, schedule a free phone consultation. During our phone consultation, we'll briefly cover what you're looking for, discuss my services, and answer any questions you may have. There is zero obligation to proceed with services at the end of the call. If you'd like to proceed with scheduling a full appointment, I will send intake paperwork to be completed prior to our first session.
